The life and legacy of John Ylvisaker, known for composing the popular song “Borning Cry” is captured in this moving documentary, John is a prolific composer, having written over a thousand songs and hymns, including all of the Psalms as well as paraphrased hymns of all of the texts in the three year lectionary. His genius is based on his commitment to powerful texts that are matched by singable tunes. John spent a lifetime collecting the best tunes from around the world and wrote either paraphrases or his own texts that connect faith to life.
 
This documentary reveals the source of his genius as well as his untold suffering. He has made the Gospel come alive with his infectious music.  How can we keep from singing.
